Do I need to worry about including images that I find on the Web in my PowerPoints (or other teaching materials)?

Answer

There is an exception to copyright law called Illustration for Instruction that means you can use copyright work in teaching. If you are searching the web for images to use in teaching, please try to determine if the images have been uploaded online with permission and that you also have permission to use them.

You can ensure that you are using images "guilt free" if you search for "creative commons" images or "copyright free". Please acknowledge the authorship of these images and the source you got them from when you use them.

Please visit our copyright guide to find out more.
