You can follow these instructions or click on the links below to the captioned videos.

1. Using the "Search" box on the library website, enter your book title and select "Books" from the "All Items" drop-down menu.

2. Your results will then only show items physically held in our libraries. You can limit your results further by selecting your library from the filters on the left hand side menu.

3. If you now look on the Available Now - see Find in Library tab you will see a shelf number and letters for that book next to the Location at the top if you are logged in to the library website.  This shelf number is like a physical address where the book may be found. On the spine (or sometimes the front) of every book is a small sticker with typed numbers and Image of book spine showing Call Numberletters.

4. Once you know the shelf number of the book that you are interested in, you can go to that shelf to find the book. All the libraries are organised from 001 to 999 in order and if the books are the same number then alphabetically by the letters after the number.

5. Libraries are organised in this manner:

Cambridge:

First Floor – Music Collection and DVDs
Second Floor – 001 to 699
Third Floor – 700 – 999

Chelmsford:

First Floor – 001 to 349
Second Floor – 350 to 619
Third Floor – 620 to 999

Peterborough: All on one floor
