Is it OK to use images from the Internet to illustrate my work?

Answer

When reusing images from the internet you must carefully check any copyright restrictions that apply to that image.  Unless it states it is copyright free, it will belong to a person or company.

The copyright law allows academic staff and students to re-use images for private study or research, or for the purposes of instruction, subject to 'fair dealing' limits and copyright restrictions, but the image must be accompanied by a full reference.
