Can we use recorded music for an end of course performance?

Answer

If the performance is being examined, you can use an extract from a recording, provided that you use no more than you need for the performance. This is known as "fair dealing" and you can find out at the copyright guide

Normally, the performance of music requires a license. Please check with your tutor if there any licenses that apply in this context.

Alternatively, you could use materials that are out of copyright (bearing in mind that the date a CD was produced, rather than the date the music was written, is generally the copyright date), or materials licensed under an open licence such as Creative Commons.
