All library members who can borrow items can request items.  Details about library membership are available via our Membership page.

You can request items which are not available on the shelf at your library (every copy is on loan) or it is only held at a different site.

You cannot request items multiple copies of the same title or titles which you already have on loan as the library system will stop you.  If the item is available on the shelf at your campus it is quicker to get the item off the shelf than place a request as it will take several days.

1. Login to the library website and then using the "Search" box, enter your book title and select "Books" from the "Material Type" drop-down menu. Or search for what you want and limit the results by "Physical Items" via the filters on the right hand side of the results screen.

2. When you find something, click on the title of the book or the Find in Library tab for its availability. If it is not available at your site, you can request it by clicking on 'Request' .You will then be asked to choose the library you want to collect it from. The first available copy will be sent there and you will receive an email once it's ready for you to collect.

The book will be held for you for seven days on our Request shelves under your "last name, first name". Collect it off the shelf and borrow it using self-service before you leave the library.

You can find out more information on how to cancel a request here if you no longer need the item.

Requested items will be issued for 7 days if item is in a queue for others too, 3 weeks if not requested by others. They renew up to 365 days, or till your course ends if less than 365 days, as long no one else has requested it.
