When the catalogue says a book is 'On hold shelf' it means the item is currently being held for someone who has requested it and is waiting to be collected. If all the copies of the item you want are unavailable from the location you want to pick them up from you can request a copy yourself using the 'Request' option and one will be sent to you.

  1. I'm still uncertain whether or not "on hold" means that one or more people are ahead of me in the queue hoping to read a given book, or if perhaps it's being held for me--waiting on a shelf for me to come in and ask for it...

  2. Thank you for your comment. "On hold shelf" means that the book has been reserved and is waiting for the person who reserved the book to pick it up. If you have reserved a book and have had an email notification to say that book is ready for you to pick up then it is likely to mean that it is waiting for you to pick it up. I hope this helps.
