Journal articles are short, in-depth papers usually on academic subjects. They will be on specific and sometimes very specialized subjects. They are collected in journals, which are published on a regular basis (usually monthly but some are available every three months or weekly).
Journal articles are important as they are one of the best methods of finding out about new research being done in your subject area. Their shortness means that they can be easier to read and analyze than books.
